She's OK!!

After a hectic morning we made it to Houston this past Wednesday for our appt with all of the specialists.  We started the morning with an ultrasound and after meeting with the Dr they decided that things looked so great that they didn't feel I needed to have the MRI.  That was awesome news!!  Not only did our sweet little Eden Rose look great and healthy, we didn't have to fork out the money for a very expensive MRI.  The Drs checked with the specialist that sent me to them and he still wanted us to get the echo on her heart.  So after a lunch break it was back to another exam room for an ultrasound of just her heart.  Next we met with the Cardiologist and she said that her heart looked great.  You can imagine our relief after such wonderful news.  They cancelled the rest of our appts we had scheduled and sent us on our merry way. :)

We did learn a few things about the baby that we didn't know.  They informed us that she doesn't have a nasal bone and that her arms and legs are a little shorter than typical at this stage of gestation.  Her bowels are still "glowing" a little bit but the Dr said that they still looked good so they weren't concerned about them at all.  So basically all of that means that she may or may not have down syndrome.  We are so happy that our baby girl is healthy!  Thanks to all for your prayers.  We are truly blessed and are definitely counting our many blessings this Thanksgiving.

  1. I'm so happy for y'all! I read an article once in Parents Magazine called "the baby I never expected". It's on their website, and the Mom keeps a beautiful blog. I read it shortly after I had Millie and just cried, it was really well written. Her daughter has downs, and truthfully her reaction to holding her for the first time is incredible. It's the way we know Heavenly Father expects us to treat any baby. When I held Louis for the first time, even though he doesn't have downs, I immediately felt like he was looking at me saying "please love me, please Mommy." Either way, it's a good read. Eden will be perfect, and hopefully not too extra expensive :)

  2. Hi Heather! I haven't looked on this thing in forever but checked randomly. It's so good to see an update of your family. I'm glad to hear your baby is healthy and we wish you guys luck. Our life has been crazy lately too and we're even moving to Utah. We still just have 3 kids. They're all healthy and happy but our little boy had a super scary ER visit this year and we didn't even know if he would make it at the time. There's nothing worse than fearing for your children. I'll have to do an update on my blog soon. Take care

  3. I'm glad you updated. I can totally relate to your story of just wanting to know what exactly your child is going to be. Hello! I have one of those. I remember with lil Anthony they were telling me he was going to be brain dead, paralyzed, maybe loss of baby. The things that have ran through your mind I have already thought of it all. After receiving a blessing I knew everything was going to be ok. Yes, my son still has to wear leg braces, but he is the happiest, funniest, sweetest kid alive. I love him to pieces. I know this child is meant especially for you and will bring you much joy in your life.
